Getting started with Wikipedia editing

NMWA's 7th annual Art+Feminism edit-a-thon has been postponed to a later date in 2020, but we can still improve Wikipedia entries related to notable women artists and art world figures from home! While we want to improve the representation of all women artists, this year we are placing a special emphasis on Latinx artists. This guide provides participants with a basic overview of Wikipedia editing practices and a selection of research material on different artists of Latin American heritage. No previous experience necessary—just have a motivation to combat gender bias and a belief in equal access to quality information resources! People of all gender identities and expressions are invited to participate. This effort is part of a global initiative to help improve Wikipedia’s gender imbalance. In 2019, more than 3800 Art+Feminism participants created or improved 21,000 Wikipedia pages.

Thank you to the C.G. O'Kelly Library for their "Art + Feminism Wiki Edit-a-thon" lib guide, which this guide was modeled after.
